Back to School: 3 Things To Help Your Education Customers With Right Now
Those with kids understand that September is the month everything changes. Packing lunches is back. Waiting at the bus stop too. Evenings at the rec center for one sport or another. Grumpy teenagers getting used to early mornings again. Yes, September is back to school.
The back to school season is also back to work season for school administration and I.T. departments. As they begin yet another year of educating they are also looking for new ways to become more efficient and productive. As an office equipment dealer, here are 3 things you can do to help them do just that:
Reduce waste printing: Anybody who has ever installed a user-based print tracking platform or embedded solution understands that 20% to 30% of every printed page ends up in recycling without ever being read. Documents printed with errors, emails printed before lunch never to leave the output tray, students printing things that get forgotten about before they ever take the home or use them for their projects. There are a variety of user based products that can dramatically reduce waste print and you are likely representing one of them today.
Ensure students are paying for print: Modern schools are using Google Chromebooks, iPads, or even BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) laptops. School networks are sophisticated and students have user credentials just like people do in an office. Tools are available to ensure that students have print quotas and allow administrators to “put on the brakes” once a student exceeds their quota. The student wants to print more? They have to top-up their account and available pages. Education customers are always struggling for cash and this is a great way to make sure they get some back.
Standardize Equipment: Schools are really serious about standardization. They have standardized tests, standardized hours, a standardized curriculum, and standardized computer systems. So why not printers and MFDs? If you have school customers that have a dog’s breakfast of printers and other print enabled devices you have a big opportunity to ensure they standardize them, just like they do everything else. This will make the learning curve much smaller for everybody involved and drive cost savings through a level platform for service and supplies.
